It's been quite some time since I've been on here! I'm gonna try to update without too much detail. We'll see how that works!
In January JD fractured his femur. The fracture was cork-screw in fashion so it healed very quickly which was good for mom and dad and JD! He hung out in his stroller all day and every day. If I tried to put him on the couch or propped up pillows under him to play on the floor he cried and cried. Keepin the kid busy at a table we rigged up for him was work! When he was done with one game or toys he would chuck them across the room. By the end of the 4 weeks in the Spica cast he had all but demolished the table we had made for him. I kept screwin the sides back together every day to make it last!
We got to the ER on Sunday evening and his leg wasn't set until Tuesday mornin. They had him on 4 pain meds and he still wasn't comfortable. You could say that Mama wasn't very happy at all. There was a mix-up on what doctor was available due to the reference from our family doc. For 39 hours my child was in severe and continuous pain. If I ever have to go to that hospital again it'll be too soon! Because of his pain, JD didn't want to eat. We finally got him to eat french fries but ONLY when there was ketchup on them! He became addicted to Dr. Pepper since that's the only thing he would drink. We are still attending DPA meetings (Dr. Pepper Addiction). You say you didn't know they existed? Well! They sure do!
He was a very good sport to have dealt with all that pain and hospital surroundings and all! He kept up a pretty good attitude throughout the whole month. He also learned to say 'please' and 'thankyou' very well!!
